My name is Michael (Nykolai) Blichar Jr, a community leader, activist, and higher ed professional. I have dedicated my entire career to helping people succeed in the areas of education and government. I am a proud alum of Kutztown University where I received my B.A. in Political Science and M.Ed in Higher Education Administration.
Throughout 2013-2017, I served in numerous professional roles including working at Kutztown University's GLBTQ Resource Center and New Student Orientation Programs. During that time I also was elected to serve on the executive boards of multiple student organizations and clubs including the campus LGBTQ alliance, the Feminist Majority Alliance, & Student Government Board. I also had the distinct honor of being appointed by the Obama White House to serve with the National It's On Us Campaign to end sexual violence where I served in an advisory capacity to universities in the region until 2019. I also was appointed by Governor Tom Wolf to serve on the Kutztown University Council of Trustees as the Student Trustee.
In all of these roles as a undergraduate, I helped implement programs and initiatives like the Student Diversity Council, the KU Student Bill of Rights, the Bias Response Task Force, Gender Inclusive Housing and Restrooms, and the Preferred Name Policy.
From 2017 to the present, I expanded my career and community leadership roles upon my acceptance to the Student Affairs graduate program at Kutztown University. During my time as a graduate student I served as the Graduate Assistant for the GLBTQ Resource Center and the Women's Center on campus, where I helped to implement programs like Safe Space training, the first ever Gender and Sexual Minorities Conference, the Campus Pride Index Assessment, and the Stonewall Community for first year students. I also interned at the campus Office of Student Involvement focusing on our food pantry and civic engagement efforts. During part of my graduate experience I worked full-time at the Allentown YMCA as the Membership and Child Watch Supervisor and also absorbed the role of Financial Aid Coordinator into my responsibilities. I concluded my experience at KU when I graduated in May of 2020.
During that same time, I was appointed by the Kutztown Borough to serve on their Planning Commission where I served as Secretary for two years and am currently serving as Vice-Chair. I also had the honor of running as a candidate for State House in District 187 in both 2018 and 2020.
From 2020 to 2021, I served as an Academic Coach with the Learning Center at Northampton Community College and I currently serve as the Assistant Director for the Office of Student Involvement & Community Outreach Center at Kutztown University
