    Job#: 08-                          Assistant Director   

                                                                 

    Department:                   Higdon Student Leadership Center

     

    Salary:                            $14.42/hour, 40 hours per week *

     

    Brief Description of Duties:   Serves as the primary coordinator for the Higdon Student Leadership Center program for junior/seniors, Leadership CofC.  Assists the Director in giving presentations, seminars and workshops on a variety of leadership topics as needed.  Serves as the primary advisor to the student organization Dance Marathon, helping with all aspects of coordinating and implementing the annual Dance Marathon, a 15 hour fundraiser for MUSC Children’s Hospital.  Attends all meetings and events related to the success of this annual event.  Assists the Director with the Program Coordinator duties for The LeaderShape Institute, a six day leadership workshop held each May.  Will be the on-site coordinator during the event.  Responsible for opening and closing the event and assisting the other conference staff as needed.  Performs receptionist duties and staffs the front office reception area, in the absence of the full-time Administrative Assistant, performing such duties as answering and routing phone calls, taking messages, greeting guests and answering general questions concerning all Center programs.  Creates and maintains all office files to include all relevant College forms, policies, procedures relevant to programs/events.  Communicates with other campus office, such as Procurement, Travel, Physical Plant, Controllers and Foundation Office as needed.  Assists the Director with other projects as needed. 

     

    Minimum Eligibility Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree and direct related work experience.   Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply. Experience giving presentations and speaking to various audiences is required.  Experience with computer software to include MS Office is essential.  Must have working knowledge of leadership topics, principles, policies and practices of small and large event planning.  Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies and organizational functions is essential.  Must have the ability to effectively prioritize, plan and organize work and tasks to meet goals and deadlines.  Ability to train others as needed, be courteous and deal effectively with other personnel as well as the public is essential.  Must have the ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures. 

     

    NOTE:  The candidate filling this position will not be eligible for benefits.  Some evening and weekend work as needed.
