    Assistant Director of Multicultural Student Services

    The Division of Student Affairs invites applications for the full-time position of Assistant Director of Multicultural Student Services.

    Bradley University is a distinctive, medium-size, comprehensive private institution of higher learning. The University is located on an 85 acre campus in Peoria, the largest metropolitan area in central Illinois. With 5000 undergraduate and 1000 graduate students, Bradley offers the opportunities and choices of a larger university (with over 90 programs in five colleges, plus a graduate school) and the quality, personal attention and challenge of a small private college. Bradley is rich in tradition and full of promise to become one of the nation's best comprehensive universities.     The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for providing leadership and direction for multicultural and international students and their organizations; planning and coordinating academic, social and cultural programs; assisting with multicultural awareness training and diversity initiatives. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of Multicultural Student Services.  The office is located in the upper level of the Romeo B. Garrett Center and is not elevator accessible.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Work closely with multicultural and international students and organizations to provide leadership and direction.
    • Plan and implement appropriate academic, social and cultural programs for the campus community.
    • Serve as a campus advisor for appropriate student organizations.
    • Participate in other University programs and serve on University committees as assigned.
    • Assist with the planning and coordination of the orientation programs for new international students and students of color.
    • Assist with the creation and implementation of a student of color leadership development program.
    • Develop a skills-based knowledge of international student services.
    • Assist with all multicultural awareness training and diversity initiatives.
    • Assist with the oversight of the graduate assistant and student employees.

    A Master's degree in college student personnel, higher education administration or related field and a minimum of two years working with a multicultural population is required. Successful candidates will possess strong communication skills, work well in a team environment and thrive in a setting of cultural diversity. The position will require some evening and weekend responsibilities.
