Mission Accomplished!

Maybe sleep at NACA should be abolished and forbidden because everything totally hurts way worse once you actually sleep.  When I rolled out of my way comfy hotel bed this morning... yes, that's right I rolled out and hit the floor... my first thought was UGGGHHH! morning already and then OOOHHH!!! I can't for everything that today holds.  Dancing to more Cupid Shuffle anyone??!! OH YEAH!!  I know that all of you wonderful NACA Kids are feeling my pain here. So... just hang in there and drink some coffee. We'll be fine.

I was totally blow away by the opening events yesterday! Our group really really wanted front row seats so we sat outside the theater for 2 hours prior to the opening and chatted w/ new friends from Rhode Island. Then we ran ran ran once the doors opened in ordered to get those oh so coveted front row seats!!! Woot! While I had never heard of Josiah Bell, I thought that he did a fantastic job and that all of his music had an excellent beat. Caroline Rhea was AMAZING!!! What I really enjoyed about her was how naturally funny she was!!!!  Prior to the performance I was super excited to see Howie Day's performance. However, I must say that I was a bit disappointed.  Howie seemed to be struggling during his time on stage. His music was still awesome, but it was obvious that he was having a really hard time.

Now on to the first SHOWCASE!!!!! Knucklehead Zoo, Mayda Del Valle, Florez, and Street Drum Corps were all just fantastic! I really enjoyed the variety that their acts offered up.  They all rocked in their own unique ways! It was really exciting to see Mayda perform because one of my friends is on the Forensics(Speech) Team at ICC is using her piece "Tongue Tactics" in his poetry program this year and I completely LOVE that POEM. I was in awe during her performance. She is so very talented!!

My favorite part about my first marketplace which I will elaborate about more later was meeting singer/songwriter Nick Motil!!! I have wanted to meet him FOREVER and so I was super pumped when I went up to the booth and asked a young man if Nick Motil was there and he said, "Nope!" and then he was like, "Actually, I'm him" OH MY, I was so so excited! He was so sweet and even signed my shirt!! meeting Nick=mission accomplished.

It is almost time to head to the first educational session.  I'm pumped about gaining a greater knowledge about how to ROCK our Campus even more.  The only thing I'm worried about is staying awake... So for now I'm going to go drink my coffee and think about what to blog about next!!!

I feel that I haven't even scratched the surface of all of the amazingness that has occurred and for that I am very sorry. So I will be blogging again soon!

About melissar823

Hey! Hey! My name is melissa reiss and I'm a sophomore majoring in Communication/Public Relations at Illinois Central College(ICC) in East Peoria, IL. Right now I am in the midst of my final semester at ICC before I transfer to ...well... I'm still undecided on that matter. After I finish my bachelor's degree, I plan to earn my Master's degree in College Student Personnel Development. I desire to work in the GRAND realm of Student Life because I feel very strongly that college is a time of immense life shaping for students and the much of the "shaping" happens through learning outside the classroom. In my free time... ha! that's funny... what free time?? When I'm not helping to plan and execute some amazing CAB event, in class or waitressing, I love hanging out with my fantastic friends and having WAY too much FUN, being creative, sleeping, drinking coffee, travelling, working out, and shopping just to name a few! These little bio boxes provided to assist one in letting everyone know who they are and what they are about are kind of wierd and awkward. Simply for the reason, how does one really create a vivid picture of themselves using just a few typed words in a little box. That being said... I CAN'T WAIT to meet and talk with all of YOU in ST. LOUIS!!!
